Overview
Bicas is a high-quality left reefbreak at the far end of the Costa Caparica, where waves peel fast and hollow off the cliffs over an uneven reef. It is a fickle wave that rarely gets surfed, but when a solid west-to-northwest swell arrives it can hold a serious amount of size.
When It Works
Bicas draws swell from southwest through north (SW-N), with west (W) swell the best match. The reef works from 1.5 m / 5 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, so it needs genuine size before it comes to life. Given how fickle it is, the days when everything lines up are worth taking when they come.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind. The wave can break through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The wave suits intermediate surfers, but it is a fast, hollow ride with rocks and rips to contend with, so treat it with respect.
Access
You'll find free parking along the roadside, and there is camping in the area.
