Binh An is a sandy beach break just north of Da Nang, on Vietnam's central coast. It breaks over sand and offers both lefts and rights, though the waves here tend to be on the smaller side and often lack much shape. For beginners staying in the beachfront resorts, it can serve up mellow crumblers to practise on. The banks are usually better closer to the Tu Hien rivermouth, so it's worth drifting that way to find cleaner sand.
When It Works
Binh An draws swell from north through east, and it comes into its own on a northeast swell. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.2 m / 4 ft, so it's happiest with small, manageable surf. The break is somewhat inconsistent, so plan your sessions around the days when the swell actually lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for a west offshore wind to tidy up the faces. Binh An can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a beginner-friendly spot, well suited to anyone still finding their feet on gentle, forgiving waves. The lineup tends to stay fairly quiet, so you're unlikely to be jostling for space.
