Overview
Boboca is a reef break just down from the harbour, working over an uneven bottom where sand fills the gaps in the reef. The standout is a hollow, chunky left that rips across the reef, and rights show up along the reef line as well.
When It Works
The left comes alive on a northwest swell, its optimal direction, though the reef will take anything from northwest to northeast. It's usable from 1.5 m / 5 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft and handles some size without closing out. Consistency is moderate, so the standout days are worth timing your sessions around.
Wind and Tide
The reef sits perfectly offshore in a southeast wind. It works through most of the tide, with a rising tide the better call, and locals tend to favour the mid-tide sessions on the good days.
Local Tips
Boboca is a solid pick for intermediate surfers, but it asks for some experience once it gets big. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on.
