Overview
Boca La Caja breaks both left and right over an uneven reef, peeling next to a large protruding rock in front of the Corredor Norte expressway.
When It Works
It draws swell from south through southwest, with south swell the best match. The reef is usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. It can be hit or miss, so it rewards catching it on the right window.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind. The reef works on mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an expert-level wave, and the lineup is consistently very busy. Be aware of localism and general insecurity in the neighbourhood.
Access
You'll find a surf shop nearby, and parking runs to a car park, paid parking, and roadside spots.
