Overview
Mojon Beach is a city-side reef break with a choice of three peaks, throwing both lefts and rights over uneven reef. It is a reasonable fallback when you are stuck in town rather than a wave worth going out of your way for.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from south to southwest and works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind. The peaks break across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. Time it by peak: Las Piedras and Nuevo Ride come in around high tide, while La Lama is the low-tide option.
Local Tips
Expect a crowd when it is working, and the water can be polluted, so most surfers only paddle out when there is nothing better nearby.
