Bowls surf guide

Bowls is a popular surf spot located on the west side, known for its fun A-frame waves that cater to intermediate surfers. The area can get quite crowded, especially during the winter months when many surfers flock to the region in search of good waves. While it may not be the absolute best in terms of wave quality all the time, it still offers solid sessions when conditions align.

This spot works best with southwest and north swells and can handle wave sizes starting from around 2ft (0.6 meters). The waves break over a live coral reef, providing options for both left and right. The left tends to be the more favored option, often delivering longer rides compared to the right. When the tide is high, and with northeast winds, the conditions can be optimal for riding these waves.

Intermediate surfers will find Bowls a fitting place to improve their skills. Just keep in mind that finding space to catch waves can be a challenge due to the crowds, especially during peak times. If you can get a wave, though, it can be quite a rewarding experience.
