Brava is a reef break that peels both left and right over a sand bottom. It has a punchy edge and turns especially heavy when a big east swell fills in.
When It Works
The break draws swell from northeast through east-southeast to south (NE-ESE-S), with east (E) swell the best match. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, holding everything from small, playful days up to solid, punchy surf when the size picks up.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind to groom the face. Brava works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Keep an eye on the currents around the Laje do Criminoso, which can really get moving, especially on the bigger east swells.
