Bunga Head is a challenging right-hand point that peaks up out the back and rumbles down the rocks. It breaks over uneven reef and is strictly one for advanced surfers. The take-off is compact and can get tense, and while it sometimes barrels, it doesn't always.
When It Works
The point draws swell from east through south (E-S), with southeast (SE) the best match. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 4.6 m / 15 ft, and it's only moderately consistent, so you'll want to catch it on the right day.
Wind and Tide
Look for southwest (SW) offshore wind. The point works through mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an expert-only wave, so it's not a spot to learn on. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on.
Access
There's camping nearby, plus a car park with free parking and roadside parking.
