Merimbula surf guide

Surf: Another world-class rivermouth, Merimbula keeps the goofies happy at the north end of the bay from Pambula and is far more reliable as it works on SE swells, over a more stable sandbar. Usually switches between a ripable wall with tube sections popping up along the bar, which extends from 200m average to almost double that on a good day. Lower tides are usually better and watch out for the racing rip on dropping tides. Any N wind will be clean. Environment: Quality attracts the crowds and summer holidays can be packed. Long waves, long paddles and the rip help disperse the crowds, as do the regular visits from large sharks, feeding in the rivermouth. Boats punching in or out through the waves can be a real danger. Competent surfers only.
