Cabo Colonet is a right-hand point that peels long down the cliff, breaking over an uneven reef. The rights can run a good distance when the swell is right, though the setup is somewhat inconsistent. Worth knowing too: the wave is under threat from a proposed project to build the third-largest port in the world.
When It Works
The point comes alive on a solid south-to-west swell, with west swell the best match for the long rights. It works from 1.8 m / 6 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, so it wants some real size to get going. Consistency is patchy, but there are worthwhile windows when a strong swell lines up along the cliff.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north offshore wind to clean up the point. It can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers who are comfortable on a longer point wave. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.

There's camping close by, and parking is free along the roadside.
