Overview
Cabrillo Point is a quality right-hand point break in San Pedro that breaks over boulders. It offers long rides, and the wave can run either fat or fast depending on the tide. When everything lines up, it can get really good.
When It Works
The point needs large south swells to come to life, drawing swell from south through west with south (S) the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft. It can be somewhat inconsistent, so it takes the right setup before the point really fires.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north (N) offshore wind. The wave breaks through most of the tide, from low to high, with a rising tide generally the better call. Tide also shapes the ride, pulling it fatter or faster depending on where the water sits.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, and you can expect a very busy lineup when it works.
