Calalin Pass is a fickle right-hander that breaks over live coral. It sits at the main passage into the lagoon, so strong currents run through the lineup whenever it's working.
When It Works
The pass draws swell from northwest through northeast (NW-NE), with north the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Waves here are inconsistent, so catching it takes patience and the right swell. When it does break during the north swell season, expect it to be almost always onshore.
Wind and Tide
The offshore wind comes from the southeast, though the north swell season tends to keep it onshore when the pass fires. It can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide the better call.
Local Tips
Calalin Pass suits intermediate surfers.
Access
Reaching it is a commitment: a 35 km / 22 mi boat ride across the lagoon from the anchorage.
