Overview
Caleta De Caballo Izquierda is a left-hand reef break on the west side of the bay, just west of town. It breaks over an uneven reef and is a fairly ordinary left by Lanzarote standards, though a rock that often pops up in the middle of the ride keeps things interesting.
When It Works
The left draws swell from northwest to north, with north the direction that lines it up best. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southwest offshore wind. It works through mid and high tide, with a rising tide the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers. The lineup fills with local crew when west winds blow out the La Santa breaks and the crowd shifts over here. Watch for urchins, which are all over the reef.
