Canyons sits just south of D River in Lincoln City, named after the small county beach park over the hill from the Highway 101 factory outlet stores. The main break is off to the left of the parking lot, about a 100-yard walk down the beach, and while it's mostly good lefts, you'll pick up some rights too. Waves break over a mix of uneven reef and sand.
When It Works
The spot draws swell from south through north (S-N), with west swell the best match, and it works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft. It's moderately consistent and tends to be better in small summer swells. When it starts barreling the current turns heavy, making paddle-outs punishing or near impossible in cold water.
Wind and Tide
Look for east offshore wind. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. Expect a hollower wave at low tide and a mushier one as the tide fills in.
Local Tips
It's an approachable, beginner-friendly wave, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on.
Access
There are restrooms, showers, and a surf shop on hand, plus a car park with free parking and roadside spots.
