Cap de L'Homy is a sandy beachbreak in the municipality of Lit-et-Mixe. Despite the name there's no real cape here, just an open stretch of beach that feeds on some swell angle or the chopped-up windswells of summer. It peaks both left and right and leans towards more performance-oriented waves, all in a setting known for year-round peace and solitude.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from west to north, with a northwest swell the best match. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and it stays consistent, so there are waves on offer through much of the year.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east offshore wind to clean things up. It works across low, mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The waves suit beginners well, so it's a friendly place to find your feet. When it's on, expect a moderately busy lineup.
Access
A big municipal campsite sits back in the trees, and there's a summer surf school along with restrooms, showers and a lifeguard. Parking is easy, with a car park offering free and paid spaces right by the sand, plus roadside parking.
