Chart House Rights is a small, fast, hollow right-hand point that peels over boulders in front of the Chart House restaurant.
When It Works
The break draws swell from south through west (S-W), with southwest (SW) the best match. It wants a small south to southwest swell up to about head high, and the working range runs from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. It can be somewhat inconsistent, so it rewards patience and catching it when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for north (N) offshore wind. The wave needs low tide, and the lower the better, though a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
The take-off area is small, so it can't hold many surfers, and it's shortboards only. Expect a very busy lineup when it turns on. Watch the shallow reef and rock hazards, be ready for strong shoreline currents, and wear a leash.
Access
Get in down the cliff next to the Chart House. The restaurant lot is reserved for diners, so park alongside PCH.
