Cheung Sha is one of the longer beaches in Hong Kong, and it’s split into two parts: Uppers and Lowers, separated by a small headland. This spot sees a decent amount of surfers, especially when the swell is in the 2-4ft range (about 0.6-1.2 meters). Although it might not have the best shape compared to other spots like Big Wave Bay, it does offer a laid-back vibe that's pretty nice for a chill surf session.

The beach can handle swell sizes starting from just 1ft (about 0.3 meters) and works well with swells coming from the SouthEast and SouthWest. You’ll find beach breaks here, which means the waves come in from both the left and the right. It’s a spot that’s suitable for beginners, with preferable wind directions from the Northwest and good conditions across low, mid, and high tide. Just keep in mind that the waves can sometimes be a bit choppy and closeout on those busy days.

If you’re heading to Cheung Sha, it’s convenient since there’s a mini bus service from the ferry that makes access easy. The beach has a small store nearby where you can rent or buy surfboards, which is handy if you don’t have your own gear. Overall, it’s a decent place to catch some waves, especially if you’re looking to improve your skills.
