Pui O surf guide

Pui O is situated on Lantau Island and is just a short taxi ride from the Mui Wo ferry. It's known as the original surfing spot on Lantau and has even hosted a QS summer surf camp. However, the waves here can be a bit hit or miss, so don’t expect consistent overhead sets. It's a nice spot to chill out and enjoy some waves when conditions are right.

The best swell direction for Pui O is from the SouthWest, but it can also pick up swells coming in from the SouthEast. The beach can handle swells as small as 1ft (about 0.3 meters) which makes it more suitable for beginners. The waves tend to break over sand and can offer both left and right rides. Whether the tide is low, mid, or high, you can still catch some fun little waves here, especially when the wind is coming from the NorthEast.

For beginners looking to improve, Pui O can be a decent spot to practice because of its beach break. Just keep an eye on the conditions and the surf report to make sure you're heading out when it's worth it.
