Overview
Chubbies is a friendly right-hander that peels off a tiny sandy islet marked by a single palm tree. Also known as Crystals, it sits on the north side of the speck and breaks over live coral. The wave is on the fat side, a mellow, forgiving right that beginners should feel at ease on.
When It Works
The right needs swell from southwest through southeast to wrap around the back of the island, shedding size, speed, and power along the way, with southeast (SE) swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and conditions stay moderately consistent.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind. The reef can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a forgiving, beginner-friendly wave, and the lineup tends to stay fairly quiet.
