Overview
Cocoa is a fast, powerful left that breaks over an uneven reef. It sits in Anse l'Etang Bay on the Caravelle peninsula, a 10 km (6 mi) arm of land reaching into the Atlantic near Trinité, sharing the bay with the easy rights at VVF and the fast-peeling Entre-deux lefts. This is a big-swell wave with a technical, demanding edge.
When It Works
Cocoa draws swell from north through east, with north (N) swell the best match, and it wants real size to come alive. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft and can be moderately consistent when the setup lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for south (S) offshore wind to clean up the face. The reef can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is expert-level territory, fast and heavy over reef, so it rewards surfers who can commit to a demanding takeoff. Expect a busy lineup when it's firing, usually with a few locals out.
Access
There's camping close by, and parking is free, including roadside spots.
