Overview
Colotepec is a rivermouth-sculpted beachbreak just east of Puerto, where the sandbars shape reliable lefts and rights over sand. It can pack real punch and dredge across the banks. The setting is shifty, rippy, and exposed to wind, so expect the peaks to shift around.
When It Works
The beachbreak is consistent and draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), with south swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, holding shape as the size builds toward the top of that range.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north offshore wind to groom it. Colotepec breaks across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The shifting, rippy peaks suit intermediate surfers who are comfortable reading a moving lineup. Expect a busy crowd when it's on.
