Overview
D & W is a jetty right that breaks over sand, throwing up steep, fast, hollow walls that can run long when it's on. It tends to get sectiony, which makes it a natural fit for shortboarders. The wave broke better in years past but still turns on good rights when the swell lines up.
When It Works
The break draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), with southwest (SW) the best match. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, and the steepest, most hollow rights tend to show on the bigger end of that range. Consistency is on the lower side, so it's worth a look mainly when there's a clean swell running.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast (NE) offshore wind to clean it up. It comes in best around mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The wave suits intermediate surfers, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
