Overview

Dino's Left is a left-hand reef that breaks over dead coral, sitting just up the beach from Tofo's protected beginner waves. On the right day it throws out long, Indo-style lefts.

When It Works

The reef draws swell from the northeast through southeast, with an east swell the best match, and works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. It's moderately consistent, but those Indo-style walls really only line up when a proper easterly swell arrives.

Wind and Tide

Look for a west offshore wind, the rare berg winds that groom the reef into shape. It can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide the better call.
