Overview
El Pepe is a long curve of sand with a rivermouth that can sculpt good banks, and you'll sometimes hear it called La Boca de la Laguna. Waves break over sand and peel both left and right, so there's usually a shoulder going your way somewhere along the beach.
When It Works
Swell arrives here from east to south, with southeast the best match for the rivermouth banks. The spot is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and it delivers waves consistently across that range.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind to clean things up. El Pepe can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on. Keep an eye on the rips running between the ever-shifting bars, since the sand here doesn't stay put for long.

There's a car park with free parking, plus roadside parking if it fills up.
