El Yanke is a good beachbreak with well-defined peaks, reached down some ropey dirt roads. It needs a decent amount of swell to get going, which makes it a solid pick for improvers wanting to log clean waves over sand.
When It Works
The peaks break over sand and offer both lefts and rights. It draws swell from south through west, with west swell the best match, and works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. Consistency is moderate, so it delivers worthwhile windows when the setup lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind. The beach can work across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The waves suit beginners, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on. If you want more room, the high tide peaks two beaches north at Playa Hermosa give all abilities something to work with away from the crowd.
Access
Getting there means driving some rough dirt roads, but once you arrive there's free roadside parking.
