Overview
Emily's is a left-hand reef break sitting right in front of the Morro Negrito surf camp, one of two rocky lefts within easy reach of the accommodation. It peels over an uneven bottom of sharp reef and barnacle-encrusted rock at variable speed, shifting between open wall sections and the occasional tight tube.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from south through southwest, with southwest the best match, and is usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft. Consistency is moderate, so count on worthwhile windows when the swell lines up rather than waves every day. About 20 minutes' walk south, The Point needs a sizable swell to turn on, throwing fast, pitching lefts at the lower tides.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind. Emily's can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
It suits intermediate surfers who are comfortable dealing with shallow reef and rock. Realistically only surfers staying at the camp tend to be out here, and it's a moderately busy peak when it's on.
Access
There's camping at the surf camp, and parking is restricted.
