Overview
Ereaga is an average-quality beach break tucked inside the Bilbao rivermouth near Algorta, breaking over a mix of rock ledge and sand and offering both lefts and rights. It sits in a well-kept, affluent urban stretch and stays sheltered when huge swells and stormy conditions shut down more exposed spots, which makes it a handy fallback on the messiest days. One thing to know before you paddle out: the water here is extremely polluted, and a bathing ban is still in force.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from west to north (W-N), with northwest (NW) the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.2 m / 4 ft, and consistency is moderate, so expect worthwhile windows rather than surf every day.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southeast (SE) offshore wind to clean things up. The break can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Ereaga suits intermediate surfers, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on. Keep an eye out for some submerged rocks that come into play at low tide.
Access
There are showers on hand, plus a car park backed up by metered and roadside parking, though spaces get restricted through the summer. Good beach facilities, bars, and shops round out the setting.
