Ervik is a beach break that peels over a mix of boulders and sand, tucked in with some shelter from the surrounding hills. When the sandbanks line up it can turn on as a quality beachbreak, and it tends to be more consistent than the Jæren area to the south.
When It Works
The break draws swell from west to north (W-N), with a northwest (NW) swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, and offers both lefts and rights. On the lower tides you can find punchy, high-performance lips that fatten out and mellow as the water fills in.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southeast (SE) offshore wind. Low and mid tide both hold surf, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
The gentler, forgiving nature of the waves makes this a good spot for beginners finding their feet.
Access
There's camping nearby in Hoddevika, and parking is free, either in the lot or along the roadside. Take care in the water: a submerged shipwreck and scattered rocks lie around the break. On land, there's a burial ground in the fragile sand dunes, so stick to the established paths.
