Overview
Escolleras is a right-hander at Playa del Palmar that feeds off the currents running along the marina, which sometimes shape a tubular wall worth waiting for. It breaks over sand and suits surfers who enjoy a wedging, sucky take-off. If you want more room to yourself, there are emptier peaks further down the beach.
When It Works
The spot draws swell from south through west, with west (W) swell the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Consistency is moderate, so it won't turn on every day, but the windows are worth tracking when the direction lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast (NE) offshore wind. It can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one is best suited to intermediate surfers who can handle a steep, sucky drop. Expect a busy lineup, and plenty of bodyboarders in the mix since it's a favourite of theirs. If the peak feels too packed, walking down the beach usually opens things up.
