Overview
Evatra is a southwest-facing left reef that peels into the rivermouth at the top of the Baie de Galion, alongside the fishing village of the same name. It sits only 15 km along the beach, but reaching it means a two-hour drive northeast. The reef underneath is uneven, and when it switches on, speedy bowls unload and often line up perfectly.
When It Works
Swell gets in from southwest through southeast, with southwest the best match. The wave is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft. It's moderately consistent, so it rewards watching for the right window rather than showing up on spec.
Wind and Tide
The bay sits well sheltered from the northeast to east trades, and northeast is the offshore direction here. The reef can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Intermediate surfers will get the most out of this one. Expect a fairly quiet lineup. Strong currents run through the rivermouth and there are big fish around, which can make the session feel a bit spooky.
