Monseigneur Bay surf guide

Monseigneur Bay is a well-known reef break that offers around 150 meters of surfable waves. The spot can be a bit inconsistent, but when it’s on, you can find some fun, workable walls. The waves start deep at the peak and can get pretty shallow over uneven reef, which is home to live coral and urchins. It's a popular spot for local surfers who mostly hang loose and don’t enforce localism much, so you'll often find relaxed vibes in the water.

The best time to surf here is from April to July when the South swells come in strong, especially with winds from the South-Southwest. The optimal swell direction is Southwest, but it can also handle swells coming from the Northeast. The waves break right and can handle sizes around 2 feet (about 0.6 meters) and up. Surfers generally prefer going out during low, mid, or high tide. This spot is really ideal for intermediate surfers, so if you're looking to step up your game, it's a solid choice.

While the waves can be fun, just remember that the shallow areas can be tricky, especially at low tide. The uneven reef can present some challenges, so it’s good to be mindful of your surroundings. Overall, Monseigneur Bay is a great spot to consider if you want to enjoy some solid surf without the hassle of localism.
