Overview
Exotics is a classic but somewhat rare left-hander at the very north end of Cambria. It breaks over an uneven reef and, when it turns on, the wave runs hollow and fast.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), with southwest (SW) the direction that lines it up best. It works from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, and a southwest swell is really what wakes it up.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind to clean up the face. Tide matters here: it wants high tide to break properly, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Access
Exotics sits around the point from Leffingwell Landing. You can check it from Hwy 1, then park in the car park above the break off Moonstone Beach Dr, where parking is free.
