Faro Right surf guide

Faro Right is located tucked inside the bay of Los Caños, right next to the Trafalgar Lighthouse. It’s a long right point that breaks beside a ledge, which can make it more critical closer to the rocks. While it can deliver fun sessions, it tends to be inconsistent, and it’s a spot where you might see a lot of surfers mixed in with the scenery. A heads up: it’s often crowded and can get a bit hectic during peak times.

The wave handles swell sizes comfortably around 3ft (about 1 meter) and works best with a Northwest swell direction. You can also catch waves from the Southwest, but the North is preferable for the wind. The break features a mix of sand and uneven reef, so keep your guards up as you paddle out, especially on the bigger days, where a lengthy paddle can be expected to reach the best sections. The wave generally offers a nice shoulder that’s great for longboarding, but it’s better suited for intermediate surfers. The ideal tide heights for getting the most out of the wave are low to mid, which can help shape up those rights nicely.

When you’re at Faro Right, be prepared for a workout, especially if you’re looking to stay out for an extended session. The set waves can clean up nicely, but you might want to scout out those sections before diving in. There are also urchins lining the point, so make sure you're careful where you step after exiting the water. Overall, it’s a spot that can be enjoyable, but don’t go expecting it to be top tier every time.
