Faro Surf Forecast Guide

Overview

Faro is a right-hand point that peels beneath the lighthouse on the coast between Mazara del Vallo and Selinunte. It breaks over an uneven reef with a sharp rock bottom, so it rewards clean conditions and doesn't do well with mess in the water. This whole stretch of coast is open to west winds and swells and holds plenty of options, but Faro is the one that turns on under the light.

When It Works

The point draws swell from southwest through north (SW-N), and it comes together best on a northwest (NW) swell. It is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, so you want some size on it before making the drive out.

Wind and Tide

Look for a southeast (SE) offshore wind to clean up the right. It can work through most of the tide, across low, mid, and high, with a rising tide generally the better call.

Local Tips

The lineup is rarely busy, so on the right day you can have the point largely to yourself. Keep an eye out for currents, which can run here.

Access

From Campobello di Mazara, take the dirt trail toward Kartibubbo to reach the spot. There is free parking when you arrive. For conditions or gear, Sea Store and Wind Water are the local shops to check in with.
