Overview
Fenwick is a short, fast beachbreak that breaks over sand and grooms incoming swell into clean, barreling sections. It's smaller and less powerful than nearby Maryland, and the peaks usually throw more rights than lefts.
When It Works
The wave draws swell from northeast through east-southeast to south (NE-ESE-S), with east (E) the best direction. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft. Surf here stays consistently small, so treat clean, waist-to-head-high days as the norm rather than the exception.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind to clean up the faces. Fenwick is best on a low, rising tide, so time your session as the water starts to push back in.
Local Tips
The small, forgiving size makes Fenwick a friendly option for beginners, and the lineup rarely gets busy since most surfers head elsewhere. Keep in mind the water can see occasional stormwater runoff.
Access
There's a lifeguard on duty and a surf shop close by, with free roadside parking to make getting in and out easy.
