Overview
Ferme aux Cochons, also known as Pig Farm, is a sand-bottomed beachbreak that breaks both left and right. When the surface turns glassy it can be one of the better waves in the area, and it probably picks up some of the biggest surf around. It is a fast beachbreak, though, so it really only comes together when the ocean is clean.
When It Works
The bank draws swell from south to southwest and stays rideable across a wide window, working from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. That covers everything from small, easygoing days to solid, sizeable surf whenever a south swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
This wave lives and dies by the wind. The fast beachbreak cannot handle any wind, so you want glassy conditions or a light southeast offshore to keep it clean. Tide is far more forgiving, breaking through low, mid, and high, with a rising tide generally the better call.
