Overview
Fort Barrington is a semi-secret left pointbreak tucked in near a resort and the mouth of the Salt Pond. The wave peels over an uneven reef, and on the handful of good days it gets each year it can run impressively long and rippable.
When It Works
This is an inconsistent spot, so it takes the right setup to switch on. It draws swell from the northwest through to the northeast, with northwest (NW) the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southeast (SE) offshore wind to clean up the face. The point can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The left suits intermediate surfers, and the lineup tends to stay fairly quiet when it's on. Keep an eye out for the scattered rocks, since there are plenty of them to work around.
