Sand Haven, also known as Lashings, is a reefbreak on Antigua that peels both left and right. You'll find it just south of the beach resorts at Dickenson Bay and Runaway Bay, close to the St. James Club. The waves break over a mix of uneven reef and sand, and the mellow setup makes it a good option for beginners.
When It Works
The break draws swell from northwest through northeast (NW-NE), with northwest (NW) swell the best match. It really comes alive when a NW-NE swell is running. Expect it to work from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.5 m / 5 ft, and count on moderately consistent conditions rather than a wave that shows up every day.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southeast (SE) offshore wind to clean things up. The reef can work through most of the tide, from low to high, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an approachable, beginner-friendly wave, and the lineup tends to stay fairly quiet even when it's working.
