Glen Eden is a fast right-hander that peels off a sandbank into the river flow. It's one of the few spots that still works with summer northeast winds, so it comes into its own when other breaks are blown out.
When It Works
The break draws swell from southwest through southeast, with southwest (SW) the best match, especially when a SW swell wraps in. It's a consistent spot that works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. When nearby breaks are getting hammered by wind, this is often the one still holding shape.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north (N) offshore wind to clean it up. The sandbank works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a good fit for intermediate surfers. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on, particularly on days when the surrounding spots are unrideable.
