Yellowsands is a surf spot that offers a mix of waves suitable for intermediate surfers. It’s known for its right point break at high tide, but what really gets surfers excited are the low tide rivermouth sandbars that can deliver some solid barrels. The place sees good conditions even when other spots get blown out by strong southwest winds during winter.
For surfing, Yellowsands works best with an east swell direction, but it can also handle swells coming from the northeast and southwest. The waves typically range from 2ft to 6ft (about 0.6m to 1.8m) and break over sand, which is nice for those who prefer a softer landing. You can catch both left and right waves here. The best time to surf is during low to mid tide, but even at high tide, you can find some decent waves. If it's a west wind, you're in luck, as conditions can be pretty favorable then.
There’s a decent campsite nearby if you’re looking to stay close to the beach. It’s a good spot to kick back after a day on the waves and get ready for another surf session tomorrow.
