Good Harbour Beach is a sand-bottomed beach break that can peel both left and right. It rarely gets as good as the set-up suggests, but the rivermouth can groom some decent banks that hold real power when they line up.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from northeast through southeast, with northeast (NE) the best match. It needs some angle in the swell to avoid closing out, so straighter days tend to shut down. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind. It can work through most of the tide, though a rising tide is generally the better call, and higher tides also help clean up the shape.
Local Tips
The lineup is rarely crowded, so you can usually find space when it's on.
Access
There's a car park with both free and paid parking, and it's easy to leave the car. Access is free in winter only. Facilities are full, with restrooms, showers, and a lifeguard. Water quality can be questionable from the river runout.
