Overview
Goosewing Beach sits inside a large bay in the Little Compton area, where beach, reef, and pointbreaks all share the same stretch of coast. The wave itself is a boulder-bottom reef that throws both lefts and rights, and it's one of the easier spots to reach on a peninsula where most other reefs and points have minimal access. Nearby Trailer Park adds steep rights alongside hollow beachbreaks, plus a right and left that break over boulders in front of a small creek runout.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from southwest through southeast (SW-SE), with south (S) swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, so you want enough size to get the boulders going without it maxing out. Expect moderately consistent surf, with worthwhile windows when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for north (N) offshore wind to clean it up. The reef can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Goosewing suits intermediate surfers. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working, and be ready for some current moving through the bay.
Access
Goosewing is one of the few easy access points around Little Compton. Parking is free in winter, but you'll pay to park on the beach in summer, and there's a car park with both free and paid options. A lifeguard covers the beach.
