Green Ball Surf Forecast Guide

Overview

Green Ball is a swell-magnet right that breaks over live coral, tucked at the bottom of a long, strenuous cliff path and a fair hike from anywhere. It has a lot in common with nearby Nyang Nyang, including heavy exposure to the trade winds. When the wind stays off it, the right sucks and spins fast off the reef, then walls up nicely before pitting on the last section of reef before the channel.

When It Works

Green Ball draws swell from south through west, with southwest (SW) swell the best match. As a reef break it is usable from 0.5 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft.

Wind and Tide

Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind. It works on mid and high tide, with a rising tide the better call and high tide optimal.

Local Tips

This is an intermediate wave, and the main challenge is the water rather than the drop. Green Ball is home to the strongest current in Bali, which whips out to sea at various angles and makes it hard to hold position, and plenty of sets will catch you out. Goofy-footers get tempted by the left next door, but the rip and reef generally keep you on the right. Expect a busy lineup when it works, since the morning glass window is short.

Access

There is a car park with paid parking.
