Hamburgers surf guide

Hamburgers, sometimes called Japans or Jay's Bay, is a surf spot known for its right-hand waves that break over a very shallow reef. It's best surfed when the conditions align just right, particularly on a Southeast swell. The spot generally scores a 4 for consistency, which means it can be hit or miss depending on the time of year and swell conditions.

This spot really likes a Southeast swell direction, but it can also handle some Northeast swells. Hamburgers works well with swell sizes around 3 ft (about 1 meter) and can produce fun surf when the winds are coming from the West. The waves are primarily reef breaks, which adds a unique texture to the ride. It’s important to know that this place is more suited for intermediate surfers due to the shallow reef and wave dynamics that can get tricky.

You can surf Hamburgers at any tide level, whether it’s low, mid, or high. The variety in tide conditions can change how the waves break, so it’s worth trying out at different times if you can. Just remember, it can get crowded at times, so be prepared to share the waves with other surfers.
