Hiliduha, also known as Dipi, is a sheltered reef peak that comes alive when the swell fills in, throwing sucky, committed tubes over a bottom of dead coral. It breaks both left and right, so there's a choice of direction once it's on.
When It Works
The peak draws swell from the south through southwest, with south swell the best match. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, and the sucky tubes really start to show on the bigger, more powerful days. Consistency can be hit or miss, so it pays to be ready when a proper swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind to groom the reef. It can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one is strictly for experts. The tubes are sucky and committed over dead coral, so it rewards surfers who are happy to take the drop and commit. The lineup usually stays fairly quiet when it's working.
