Hilisataro surf guide

Hilisataro is a surf spot located about 10km north of Teluk Dalam harbour, right in front of the village of Hilisataro. This area can experience some decent waves, particularly when the conditions are right. It's known for its swift, sucky right-hand waves, especially at the south end of the bay. Surfers looking to catch a ride should note that this spot tends to work best when The Point picks up bigger swells, particularly from the south to southwest.

The surf here mainly breaks over dead coral, so watch your step. The optimal swell direction is southwest, but you can also catch waves coming from southeast. Hilisataro can handle swell sizes starting from about 3 feet (0.9 meters) and is best surfed during mid tides. With the right northwesterly winds, the waves can be pretty enjoyable for intermediate surfers looking to improve their skills.

This spot is occasionally referred to as Rock Star and can attract some boat traffic. It's not always crowded, which can be nice, but be prepared for the occasional fellow surfer. If youโ€™re heading out, check the swell and wind conditions to make the most of your session at Hilisataro.
