Overview
Hilisataro is a swift, sucky right-hand reef break at the south end of the bay, sitting in front of its namesake village about 10 km north of Teluk Dalam harbour. Also known as Rock Star, it peels over dead coral and tends to fire when the nearby Point is bigger.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from southwest through southeast, with southwest the best match. It comes to life on a strong south to southwest swell, the same setup that pushes The Point up in size. The working range runs from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, and it stays moderately consistent.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind, ideally light through the north to northwest range. The reef is best on mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate-level wave that breaks fast and hollow, so being ready to take off cleanly matters. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it works, and a few boats often anchor up nearby.
