Overview
Hourtin is an open beachbreak that can line up nicely on its day. It breaks over sand, with an alios soft reef helping to shape bowly waves, and peels both left and right.
When It Works
Hourtin is a consistent break that draws swell from southwest to northwest (SW-NW), with west (W) swell the best match. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind. It works on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. In small swells, high tide tends to shut the wave down.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers. Expect a busy lineup when it's on, and through the summer this popular British hangout can get packed out. Exploring the mountain biking tracks between the lakes and woods can turn up new spots.

There's a car park with free parking. Facilities include restrooms, showers, camping, a lifeguard, and a surf school.
