Overview
Il Reef sits at the mouth of the Naro river by San Leone, a few kilometers east of Sciacca. It's a river-mouth break where rights and lefts peel over an uneven rock reef.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from southeast through south (SE-S), and it really comes to life when a big southeast (SE) swell is running. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. Consistency can be hit or miss, so it's worth timing your session to when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southeast (SE) offshore wind to clean up the faces. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide the better call.
Local Tips
Il Reef suits intermediate surfers comfortable sitting over a reef. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on, and if you want more options there are additional spots further east toward the local marina.
