Overview
Indicator is a powerful left-hand point off the south tip of Bluff Cove, made up of a well-known trio of thick, rocky reef waves breaking over boulders. Each section has its own character. Lowers, the innermost part of the point, is a hollow, shifty reef wave. Just outside it sits Middles, a meaty, shallow left that holds up well until a few feet overhead. The outermost segment, Uppers, is an unpredictable, serious big-wave left that only fires when everything lines up, often turning mushy and hollow on the same wave. It is a challenging, somewhat hazardous setup, but it never closes out.
When It Works
The point draws swell from southwest to northwest (SW-NW), with west (W) swell the best match. It comes alive with big northwest winter swells, and every section needs size to break, generally starting to work from around 4 ft and up. It is usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 5.5 m / 18 ft, and it stays consistent when the swell is running.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast (SE) offshore wind to clean things up. The point breaks through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call and medium tide the pick of the bunch. Steer clear of the extremes: it turns too bumpy at extreme high tide and too shallow and rocky over the boulders at extreme low.
Local Tips
This is expert-only territory, suited to experienced surfers on big-wave boards. The waves are localized, so surf with awareness, and expect a very busy lineup when it works.

Getting in means a sheer path off Paseo del Mar.
